DAY TRIP FROM MARRAKECH TO AIT BEN HADDOU AND OUARZAZATE

Indulge in the rich tapestry of history and tradition on our culturally immersive day excursions from Marrakech.On this day tour to Ait Ben Haddou and Ouarzazate you will enjoy a beautiful journey into the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260m) which will be our first stop of the day, then to Telouet via the old caravan route. The village of Telouet has one of the most spectacular Kasbahs in the High Atlas Mountains, which was once the residence and headquarters of the powerful Glaoui tribe. You will notice a dramatic shift in the landscape changing to a more arid and desert terrain as you descend down onto the Eastern side of Morocco.

Next, we drive through the Anilla Valley via small berber villages to arrive to the Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, recognized by the UNESCO in 1987 as a ‘World Heritage Site’, a background of about 20 Inter films, a traditional pre-Saharan habitat with a fantastic beautiful moroccan architecture, a guided tour of the ancient settlement including a walk up to the high point on the hill above the Kasbah for particularly scenic views.

After lunch we take a detour via the film studios in Ouarzazate for some pictures before heading back to the high atlas across the Tizi n’Tichka Pass and back to Marrakech. You should expect to be back in Marrakech at approx. 6pm, drop off at your accommodation, end of Our Marrakech Day Tour.
